NEW WORK WITH DRIFTWOOD

A ten minute walk from my house takes me down to the beach. I enjoy searching for driftwood that looks as though it may prove useful for a piece of work. I try to build something that relates to the form, colour and texture of the driftwood. Most of the wood is hardwood and is still remarkably intact as is revealed when I cut the bottom off to provide a level base.
All driftwood pieces are suitable for outside use; the high-fired stoneware clay is frostproof and the adhesive that I use to join the clay to the driftwood is exterior quality.
